Camp Update
Since the resignation of Travis Barry as LIC in August 2024 Treetops has operated under the Leadership of an Executive Committee comprising Felicity Pleasants, Sandra Pretty and David McNish. During this period a lot has happened at the camp but at the same time things like website updates and newsletters have gone on the back burner as they were a low priority. We are now starting to get on top of these matters and have also launched a new facebook page. Check it out and like it.
What has happened at the camp? We have two brand new ablution blocks awaiting delivery when the camp dries out a little. Solar has been installed around the camp which will hopefully reduced our $3000 per quarter electricity bills. Reverse cycle air conditioning has been installed in the Bill Gunn Centre (PHC) and the Jock Cameron MPR, both these buildings should now be a lot more comfortable in the height of summer and winter. The Bill Gunn Centre kitchen has a new commercial gas range, refrigerator and freezer. The Jock Cameron MPR has a new pie warmer and commercial refrigerator. We have also purchased an out front mower which should make grass cutting easier during spring and early summer.
We have appointed 3 new assistant rangers to assist Paul (hopefully this will give him a bit of time off over weekends). They are Ed and Fiona Gardner and Sue Boardman, if you bump into them at the camp please make them feel welcome, they will be easily recognised in their camp jumpers and name tags.
We have been working on getting a new LIC for going on 12 months and have finally succeeded. Watch the Latest News Page on World Scout Day (1/8/25) to find out who it is.
